    Gilsbar to Administer Smoking Cessation Trust Medical Claims Filings

    Covington, LA – (September 12, 2012) Gilsbar®, one of the nation’s fastest growing, privately-held health and benefit management organizations, has been selected to perform the medical claims administration services on behalf of the Smoking Cessation Trust, formed to fund a state-wide, 10-year smoking cessation program. 

    The judgment in this class action lawsuit1 ordered the major American tobacco companies to fund a state-wide, 10-year smoking cessation program2, to be managed by SCT Management Services, L3C.  The program will provide court approved smoking cessation services to Louisiana residents who started smoking cigarettes before September 1, 1988. 

    Services provided to eligible residents include a quit line, nicotine replacement treatment and physician services.  Gilsbar has been selected to produce ID cards for members, as well as handle the claims administration for covered services.
